Best For: Decorative hardware, optical components, reflectors, and parts requiring improved cleanability or reduced surface friction

Anodizing (Type II & III)

An electrochemical process that converts the metal surface into a durable, corrosion-resistant anodic oxide layer that can be dyed in custom colors. Type II minimally affects dimensions; Type III adds measurable layer thickness and should be accounted for in tight-tolerance designs.

Best For: Aluminum parts requiring wear resistance, environmental protection, or strict brand color matching

Powder Coating

A dry finishing process where free-flowing polymer powder is applied electrostatically and cured under heat to form a tough, continuous protective skin.

Best For: Outdoor industrial equipment, metal frames, and structural components demanding impact resistance, UV protection, and long-lasting color coverage

Electroless Nickel Plating

An auto-catalytic chemical reaction that deposits a uniform nickel-phosphorus alloy coating across the entire part surface, regardless of geometric complexity.

Best For: Valves, bearing housings, internal cavities, blind holes, and tooling components requiring consistent coating thickness, corrosion resistance, and wear resistance

Advantages of CNC Turning

High Efficiency for Rotational Parts

Optimized for axisymmetric components like shafts, bolts, and rollers, CNC turning removes material rapidly along the rotational axis for fast, efficient production.

Excellent Precision and Repeatability

Modern CNC lathes deliver tight, repeatable tolerances across thousands of parts, with precision determined by geometry, material, setup, and inspection requirements.

Superior Surface Finish

CNC turning typically delivers a smooth, consistent surface finish, reducing or eliminating the need for secondary polishing.

Material Versatility

Compatible with a wide range of metals including aluminum, stainless steel, brass, copper, titanium, and exotic alloys, as well as engineering plastics such as POM, PEEK, PTFE, and ABS.

CNC Turning: Breakdown of the Basics

What is CNC Turning

CNC turning, also known as computer numerical control turning, is a subtractive manufacturing process used to create precise parts with rotational symmetry. The workpiece rotates while a cutting tool moves along controlled axes to remove material and create cylindrical or rotationally symmetric features.
Ideal for parts with a circular cross-section, CNC turning offers high-precision, repeatable production across a wide range of materials including metals and plastics. Modern CNC lathes can perform multiple operations such as facing, turning, grooving, and threading in a single setup, making it a highly efficient and automated manufacturing solution.

CNC Turning Process

1. Workpiece Setup: The raw material such as bar stock or tube is secured in the lathe's chuck or between centers.
2. Programming: A CNC program defines the cutting tool's movements, specifying speed, feed rate, and toolpath to achieve the desired geometry.
3. Machining: The CNC program executes, driving the spindle and cutting tool to remove material from the workpiece according to the programmed instructions.
4. Part Removal: Once complete, the finished part is removed and the process repeats for the next piece.

FAQs About CNC Turning

What type of CAD files do you accept for CNC quoting?

We accept both 3D models and 2D drawings. For instant geometry analysis and baseline pricing, please upload your 3D CAD files in STEP, STP, or IGS formats. If your part requires specific tight tolerances, GD&T callouts, or threaded holes, a supplementary 2D drawing in PDF, DWG, or DXF format is required.

We have no strict Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ = 1). Whether you need a single rapid prototype for design validation or a low-volume production run of thousands of parts, our flexible manufacturing network is built to scale with your project efficiently and cost-effectively.

Our standard manufacturing lead time for most CNC projects is 5 business days. For exceptionally simple parts or urgent prototyping needs, we can expedite production and ship in as fast as 1 day. (Please note: Lead times may vary depending on part complexity, total quantity, and any secondary surface finishes required.)

100% Yes. We take intellectual property (IP) protection and data security incredibly seriously. We are proudly ISO 27001 Certified for information security management. Your files are encrypted and shared exclusively with essential engineering staff. We are also fully prepared to sign your Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before you share any CAD files.

Absolutely. By default, every order includes a standard Dimensional Tolerance Report. For production volume orders, we supply comprehensive First Article Inspection (FAI) reports. If your critical components require ultra-precision metrology, full CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) inspection is available for an additional fee.
